The Center for Markets, Ethics, and Entrepreneurship has scheduled its inaugural lecture for Monday, October 12, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the Wege Ballroom here at Aquinas.
Fr. Albino Barrera, O.P., is Professor of Economics and Theology at Providence College. Fr. Barrera received his PhD in Economics from Yale University. His areas of expertise include economic ethics, moral theology, development economics, and international trade. He has written numerous books on economic ethics and Catholic Social Teaching, including Market Complicity and Christian Ethics(Cambridge University Press, 2011), Globalization and Economic Ethics (Palgrave, 2007), Economic Compulsion and Christian Ethics(Cambridge University Press, 2005), God and the Evil of Scarcity: Moral Foundations of Economic Agency (Notre Dame University Press, 2005), and Modern Catholic Social Documents and Political Economy (Georgetown University Press, 2001). His most recent book isBiblical Economic Ethics: Sacred Scripture's Teachings on Economic Life (Lexington Books, 2013).
